Mark Your Calendars with these Important Dates
The Thomas Edison Pitch Contest has 4 main parts (Registration, Creating Your Project, Final Pitch Presentation Video, & the Pitch Event for Finalists), which will take place over the course of about 4 months. Meeting deadlines is an extremely important part of this contest, meant to give students real-life experience as well as fun opportunities. Be sure to manage your time effectively to ensure success in the competition!

DEC 1 TO DECEMBER 31 - Early Registration Period

The Thomas Edison Pitch Contest will be accepting early registrants in 2021-2022. Early registrants will receive an Amazon Gift Card for their project & will be sent their Maker's Kit earlier, giving you a head start.

JANUARY 1 TO JANUARY 30 - Regular Registration Period

Regular registration will be open through January 2021! The Maker's Kits for these students will be sent in Feb.
FEBRUARY THROUGH APRIL - Work on Projects & Engineering Notebooks

Students will have about 3 months to complete their projects from beginning to end.

Engineering Design Notebook entries must be completed 3 times through the challenge (beginning, middle, and end)! Download the Notebook Template Here.

These count for the majority of your score. All notebooks will be due at final submission on April 19th.
APRIL 19 - All Final Submissions Due

Your Final Video Presentation and all of your Engineering Design Notebooks are due on this day.

*Please note: There will be no extensions for this due date. Teachers/Mentors will only get the $200 stipend if we receive this final submission.
APRIL 28 - Semifinalists Announced

Judges will decide on the semi-finalists based on scores from registration, notebooks, and final video presentation.

3 teams in each category (High School, Middle School, and Elementary School) will be selected to compete in the Final Pitch Event.
MAY 17 - Final Pitch Event

Teams invited to attend the formal pitch contest to determine winner rankings & receive their prizes. They will pitch their idea in 5 minutes or less to a panel of expert judges at our fun-filled event virtually streaming from the Thomas Edison National Historical Park.
